Description
Must have fulfilled MQSA mammography requirements.
License may be obtained through attending an approved school, ARRT certification or alternative training. Professional credentials specific to work area:
Advanced certification in Breast Ultrasound (BS) or ARDMS reg eligibility required.
ARRT with mammography certification and/or Washington State License preferred.
Previous professional experience in breast health special procedures preferred.
Two years mammography experience preferred.
Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on the assigned unit/department.
Proficient understanding of breast anatomy and mobility to aid in location and investigation of mammographic findings.
Knowledge of sterile techniques and preparation of sterile trays for ultrasound guided procedures.
Demonstrate sonographic skills to identify, record pathology, and adapt procedures as needed to position patient to obtain best anatomical, pathological and diagnostic information and images.
Demonstrates independent judgement to acquire the optimum breast sonographic information in each examination performed for our Radiologist team.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded and correct imaging protocol is followed.
Demonstrates effective communication skills in a diverse population.
Demonstrates the ability to work as a member of a team.
Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to remain organized and positive in a climate of constant change.
Familiarity and experience in outpatient imaging center environment.
Provides appropriate instructions for patients, and assumes responsibility for the safety, and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
Responsible for creating consents for upcoming procedures and stocking rooms accordingly
Responsible for inputting appropriate pathology and lab requisitions
Assist radiologists in all ultrasound guided procedures to include:
Cyst Aspiration
Core Needle Biopsy
Wire Localization
Savi Scout RFID Localization
Produces high quality digital images, correctly positions patient, and selects the correct technical factors.
Performs breast related studies.
Performs daily verification and facilitates completion of any pending clinical tasks.
Functions as department resource for operation of technical equipment. Helps to facilitate equipment repair. Maintains equipment.
Assists in training and orientation of new personnel.
