Description
Registered by the ARRT in Radiation Oncology or its international equivalent and the State of Washington as a radiation therapist.
Will have been a licensed radiation therapist for 0 - 5 years with experience and competency in at least 3 of these specialties: CT Sim, SBRT, SRS, VMAT, ABC and/or HDR.
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Registered by the ARRT in Radiation Oncology or its international equivalent and the State of Washington as a radiation therapist.
Will have been a licensed radiation therapist for a minimum 6 years with experience and competency in CT Sim, SBRT, SRS, VMAT, ABC and/or HDR.
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers.
Skilled at interpersonal relationships and able to work with a wide range of staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Must be able to modify clinical services based on age, growth, and development stage of patient.
Ability to successfully react to rapidly changing, stressful situations to maintain order and control.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills, openness to change and a willingness to undertake expanded duties.
Maintains technical proficiency in current radiation oncology practices and procedures.
Follow Lead RT instructions involving day to day issues.
Maintain open, respectful, and productive communications with all patient care team members in order to support safe patient care environment.
Interpret and verify the mathematical accuracy of treatment plan.
Verify treatment plan against the prescription.
Verify set-up instructions and communicate any problem or discrepancy to the appropriate person.
Communicate in a respectful, compassionate, and supportive manner with the patient and family. Work to schedule patient at a time convenient for them.
Follow and set-up the treatment room and machine parameters according to prescription. Deliver a planned course of radiation therapy.
Maintain daily records and document the technical details of the treatments administered.
Perform all QA essential to safe patient handling including checklists, filming, chart checks, chart rounds and IVD measurements.
Demonstrate effective follow through for all patient related activity to ensure patient care continues without interruption.
Provide patient with care and comfort essential to radiation therapy procedures. Therapist should be comfortable in providing appropriate communication related to the treatments.
Observe the clinical progress of the patient undergoing radiation therapy. Recognize the first signs of any complication and determine when treatment should be withheld until a physician can be consulted. Have the patient see the physician on a routine basis.
Detect equipment malfunctions or unintended set-up variation and report to the proper authority immediately. Know and operate within the safe limits of the equipment.
Must apply the rules and regulations for radiation safety.
Will participate in warm-up rotations for both accelerators.
Will be part of the RT On-Call schedule and adhere to On-Call Policy.
Assure that patient charges are complete and accurate daily. Use time wisely for the benefit of the patient and employer.
