Description
Current Washington State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers required.
Capable of comprehending, executing and acting under the direction of a health care practitioner.
Attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure is essential. Also, must be able to function effectively in an environment where it is necessary to perform several tasks simultaneously, including demonstrated ability to effectively manage multi-line phones.
Possess excellent customer service and patient care skills. Interacts in a friendly, professional manner with a wide range of patients, operations staff, physicians, and other departments in Valley Medical Center.
Neat and well-groomed appearance.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with the physical and emotional development of all age groups.
Ability to communicate effectively, in oral and written form, in the English language.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills in a diverse population.
Unique Job Functions: (performed in accordance with supervision requirements established by statute and administrative code.)
Ensures efficient patient flow, pulling and preparing charts, rooming patients, Obtains vital signs and chief complaint
Coordinates and schedules appointments for surgeries, special procedures and diagnostic testing. Schedules follow-up appointments and any other tests as ordered by physician.
Schedules surgery at correct location with correct surgeon.
Performs pre-operative and post-operative date entry, chart assembly, and provides patients with necessary information.

Assists in the efficient management of the daily surgery schedule, including inter and intra departmental communication intended to facilitate the flow of surgical patients.

Coordinates arrangements for surgical assistants when necessary. Organizes next day's schedule and ensures that there are no physician conflicts.

Provides patient with preoperative and postoperative information. Functions as liaison between surgeon, OR scheduler/system, and patient. Acts as primary contact for surgical patients and responds to telephones inquires.

Uses the telephone to send or receive communication related to the surgery, special procedures schedule, pass messages to surgeons or other personnel, request CT's and ultrasounds and any other relevant test results

Set up for procedures, assist if team requests, clean instruments and wrap.

Assists with multiple procedures such as: assist with minor surgeries, biopsy, excision of lesions, etc.

Performs laceration set-up, wound dressing application and suture/clip removal

Gives approved instructions to patients

Demonstrates clear Knowledge of the Clinic structure, standards, procedures, and protocol

HAC medication reconciliation

Phone messages (respond and complete)

Referral process (the part we do in our clinic)

Triage phone calls

Make sure rooms are stocked (supplies and linens)

Close down, computers, counts, rooms, thermometers, counter tops and beds wiped down, empty linen, check sharps containers.
