Description
Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine program with advanced training in PET as well as ARRT with advanced training in CT.
NMTCB or ARRT(N) registry-eligible in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Unique Job Functions:
Demonstrates proficiency in all PET / CT procedures, using initiative in special positioning needs of individual patients.

Practices good radiation safety procedure pertaining to the preparation, handling, administration, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals. (ALARA)

Performs/maintains all department records pertaining to quality control, radiation monitoring and surveys, and radioactive materials handling.

Orders radiopharmaceuticals according to both prescribed schedules, and on a stat basis.

Operates all imaging and auxiliary equipment according to written procedures/protocols, demonstrating proficiency on all equipment.

Reports/records all equipment problems promptly, and initiates service calls as necessary.

Responsible for documenting pertinent clinical history and symptoms.

Participates in the utilization and support of the PACS systems.

Utilize computer systems to obtain lab values, enter exam charges, schedule patients, enter orders, access reports, etc.

Assists in the writing and revision of procedures/protocols.

Assists in evaluating and standardizing new procedures.

Maintain a working knowledge of medications used in nuclear medicine.

Responsible for the physiological monitoring and care of patients during PET / CT procedures.
