DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST
(Rad/CT Technologist)
Reports To: Radiology Manager Closes: Open Until Filled
Salary/Wage: Status: Regular, Full-time

Job Purpose &
Position Overview
Receives
patients, explains methods of procedures, positions patients, selects and sets
technical factors, sets accessory equipment and makes exposures necessary for
the requested procedures. Works with
patients to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy
expectations. Monitor patients' vital signs
Specific
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribe's
core mission, vision, and values
Performs a variety of difficult
radiographic examinations. Is thorough when performing work and conscientious
about attending to details. Knowledge of radiographic exposure
techniques. Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal or extensive
on-the-job experience to perform one’s job; works with, understands, and
evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical
issues. Determines technical factors including referring, interpreting and
applying procedural guidelines.
Calculates correct exposure factors
of time, distance, kVp, and mAs Controls image quality, i.e. patient
positioning, compression, and image production. Establish requirements of
nonstandard examinations to determine technical factors, positioning and number
of images needed to satisfy the requirements. Knowledge of radiation protection
standards, devices, and techniques.
Performs necessary QC for modalities
for which they are assigned. Interprets and applies radiation protection
standards and techniques. Carry out a variety of digital radiology duties. For
example loading readers, pushing images to a Picture Archiving System (PACS)
workstation, electronic editing and annotating images.
Maintain and troubleshoot cassette
readers, picture archiving systems (PACS), and various radiology Information
Technology (IT) equipment.
Performs a variety of difficult
radiographic examinations. Conducts routine as well as complex exams and is qualified
in at least one other modality other than general Radiology.
Maintains all required trainings and
experience requirements to retain qualifications.
Knowledge of anatomy and
physiology. Controls image quality, i.e.
patient positioning, compression, and image production. Establishes requirements of nonstandard
examinations to determine technical factors, positioning and number of images
needed to satisfy the requirements.
Makes sound, well-informed and objective
decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to
action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals;
causes change.
Knowledge of and ability to deviate
from the normal in nonstandard examinations and procedures to achieve the
highest quality images for the nonstandard patient, example: establish requirements of nonstandard examinations to
determine technical factors, positioning and number of images needed to satisfy
the requirements
Maintains records of patient
workload examinations, equipment, and radiation surveys.
Maintain data base records of
patients examined, examinations performed, views taken, and technical factors
used
Represents the department in staff
meetings to provide update of new developments in the field and exercises
judgment to evaluate their usefulness and recommend adoption by the
clinic.
Plan and coordinate work operations
in radiology department.
Requisition supplies to meet the needs
of the department.

Required
Qualifications/Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in applicable
field and 2 years of applicable experience, or combination of education and
experience
Must be ARRT registered Technologist
- CT and Mammography board certification required
Physical
Requirements:
Normal to light office
work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
Regularly required to
walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate
computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
While performing daily
duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

Certificates,
Licenses & Registrations:
Maintain accreditation through the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologist by complying with rules and regulations set
forth by the ARRT i.e., completing the mandatory 24 continuing education units
per biennium, any fees required to maintain credentials as certified Radiographe
