Job Title: Physical Therapist I - Contract
Location: Mount Sinai Health System, 10 Union Square East, New York, NY 10003
Schedule: Monday-Thursday (12:00 PM - 8:15 PM), Friday (10:00 AM - 6:15 PM)
Department: BIMC-PETRIE GENERAL FUNDS-PHILLIPS REHABILITATION MED THERAPY-PACC-PROFESSIONALTEMPS
Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist I performs initial examinations, develops treatment plans, and provides therapeutic interventions for patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions in an outpatient setting. The role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and involves rotating across inpatient, outpatient, and acute services as needed.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct initial patient evaluations, set treatment goals, and implement therapy plans.

Perform timely re-evaluations and modify interventions accordingly.

Document patient progress, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Provide training and education to patients, families, and medical personnel.

Recommend durable medical equipment and write letters of medical necessity when required.

Participate in discharge planning and provide home exercise programs as needed.

Maintain patient records, attendance logs, and billing documentation.

Attend department meetings, rounds, and professional development sessions.

Supervise Rehab Patient Care Associates, volunteers, and students.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.

License: Current New York State Physical Therapy license.

Experience: 0-1 year of relevant experience; orthopedic/musculoskeletal outpatient therapy preferred.

Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and documentation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Certifications: Must be a current member of the APTA.

Target caseload: 12-14 patients per day.

Outpatient therapy setting with a focus on orthopedic and musculoskeletal cases.

Compliance with all Mount Sinai Health System policies and procedures is required.
