Job Opportunity: Wound Care RN

Location

• Facility: BronxCare Hospital Center
• City: Bronx, New York

Position Details

• Specialty: Wound Care RN - 4th Floor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM or 9 AM - 5 PM
• Weekend Requirements: Optional
• Holiday Requirements: Optional
• Call/Standby Requirement: None
• Floating Requirements: All inpatient areas (MS, PCU, ICU & OR as needed)

Patient Care

• Patient Load: Approximately 20 consults per day + follow-ups
• Common Diagnoses: Pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, vascular wounds, surgical wounds, ostomies
• Typical Job Duties:

  • Review consults and divide workload with peers
  • Conduct patient assessments (head-to-toe)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (doctors, social workers, RNs, etc.)
  • Place wound care orders and provide patient education

Experience and Qualifications

• Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years inpatient clinical experience; wound care experience preferred
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse) - takes approximately 1 year to obtain
  • OR WCEI (Wound Care Education Institute) - takes up to 1 week to obtain

Equipment and Treatments

• Equipment Used: KCI wound vacs, various wound care dressings, and treatments

Orientation

• Unit Specific Orientation: 1 day nursing orientation with IT; additional time with a preceptor as needed

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Royal blue scrubs or casual dress
