Job Description

• Unit Name: Level 2B - Special Care Nursery
• Unit Description: 25 bed unit including Labor & Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), Newborn Nursery (NBN), 2 Operating Rooms (ORs), 2 ANU rooms, and Recovery Room (RR).
• Years of Experience Required: 2+ years of NICU experience
• Skill Sets Required: Special Care Nursery & Newborn Care
• Floating Required: No
• Shifts: Rotating shifts (Days/Eves/Nights) with 1 Night of Call; Eves & Nights do not rotate.
• Clinician to Patient Ratio:

  • L&D: 1:2-3 Evals, 1:1 active labor, magnesium gtt or epidural
  • PP: 1:3-4
• Patient Population: All
• Average Daily Census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labor

Required Certifications and Credentials

• BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required
• Fit Test for N95 Respirator: Required
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Required
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Required
• TB Test: Required
• Health Statement: Required
• Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season
• MGB Criminal Background Check: Required
• MGB Education Verification: Required
• MGB References: Required (minimum of 2, including 1 Supervisor or Above)
• MGB Skills Checklist: Required
• MGB Submission Checklist: Required

• EMR (Charting System): EPIC
• Documentation: Must include past 7 years of work experience and education with city & state.
• Background Checks: Various checks including National Sex Offender Check, Exclusion Checks, and SSN Trace are required.
