• Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret strips
  • Experience with acute stroke management, post-neuro surgical management, seizure management, and complex pain/wound management
  • Skills in NIHSS, lumbar puncture assistance, arterial lines, central lines, tracheotomy patients, lumbar drains, IV start skills, peripheral lab draws, arterial blood draws, and various intravenous drips (e.g., cardiac, insulin, heparin)

Patient Care

• Patient Population:

  • Trauma and transplant subspecialties
  • Includes isolated trauma, multisystem trauma, pre and post-surgical care, and complex pain/wound management
• Staffing Ratios: 1:4 RN-to-patient
• Care Model: Patients are placed based on acuity; the acuity of this intermediate unit is comparable to an ICU unit at smaller facilities.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (12N), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Assessment Requirements: Relias exams required to pass upon booking (2 attempts allowed)
• RTO Policy: All requests for time off must be given prior to assignment confirmation
• Charge Nurse Role: The charge nurse does not have a patient assignment
