Job Description

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
Ratios: 2:1 (can flex up to 3:1 in high census)
Average Daily Census: 11-12
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirement: None
Float Requirement: Yes

Required Skills and Certifications

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Neuro ICU (strong neuro experience required)
Traveler Experience: 1st time travelers accepted
Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Skills:
- Vents
- IV Start
- Neuro Intensive Care Unit
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Blood Product Administration
- Central line care/management
- Continuous IV sedation
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- ICP Monitoring
- Post Neurosurgery management
- Care of Ventilated Patients
- Isolation Precautions/Use of PPE
- Lumbar Drain experience

Preferred Skills

Arterial line management

Patient Population

Comprehensive stroke center with a focus on:
- Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes
- Subdural hematomas (SDH)
- Craniotomies
- Carotid stents and endarterectomies
- Aneurysm coiling/clipping
- Seizures
- Myasthenia gravis

Special Equipment

EVD, Lumbar Drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, Arctic Sun

Unit Orientation

24 hours (2 days or 2 nights)

Scrubs

Navy blue & white

Additional Notes

RTO (Request Time Off) after booking is not allowed.
Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
Strong neuro critical care background is essential; general ICU experience is not sufficient.
