Job Description

Position: Bles 5 Limb/Plastic Surg MS RN
Shift: 3 x 12 Night (1900-0630)
Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation included (every other required)
On Call Requirement: No on-call requirement
Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity

Patient Care

The unit is a 16-bed Plastic Surgery and Limb Salvage unit, providing exceptional post-operative care for patients undergoing complex procedures.
Common procedures include reconstructive plastic surgery, diabetic limb salvage, complex wound management, and surgical wound care.
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
Collaborative interdisciplinary practice with Nurse Practitioners, physicians, physical therapists, and clinical pharmacists.

Requirements

Licensure: DC RN Licensure (must be in hand at time of submittal)
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required for RN/LPNs working in ED or Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as required by unit description
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit description
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in MS/Tele, Surg/Tele
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and surgical drains
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- At least 1 travel assignment completed if less than 4 years of experience

Additional Information

Flu Vaccine: Required for all employees
Health Documents:
- Annual physical exam
- N95 Fit Test
- TB testing (IGRA or PPD)
- Vaccination records (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap)
Background Check: Required within 90 days of start
References: Two positive supervisory references required
