Job Description

• A brand new state-of-the-art facility, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, is set to open in May 2025. This will be New Jersey’s first and only freestanding cancer hospital, integrating RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute.
• Shift: 8 AM - 6:30 PM
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a stroke center (Level I or II experience required).
  • First-time travelers are accepted.
  • On-call 2-3 days per week; RNs will assist with PICC but not insert.
  • No block scheduling.
  • Local candidates are accepted.

Patient Mix

• The role involves covering the Morris Cancer Center, with some responsibilities in conscious sedation recovery (some patients will go to PACU).

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficiency with specialty equipment (e.g., EKOS +, A-line, procedural wedge pressures).
• Primary RN responsibilities, including covering the portable Midline team for midline insertion house-wide.
• Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience is highly preferred.

Certifications and Documentation

• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) for specific units
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for specific units
  • NIH Stroke Certification for adult critical care specialties
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) for ER RNs
  • Other certifications as applicable based on unit requirements.

• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
  • Drug Testing (10-panel)
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation
  • Latex Questionnaire (if applicable)
