Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care and assisting with the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary diseases and disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy treatments as per physician orders, including:

  • Aerosol medication delivery
  • Lung expansion and airway clearance modalities
  • Maintenance of natural and artificial airways
  • Care planning and patient education
• Obtain arterial blood for blood gas analysis and interpret results to recommend treatment.
• Manage ventilators, including initiation, maintenance, monitoring, and assessment.
• Provide rapid response assessment and emergency care, including airway management and CPR.
• Support and monitor patient transport within the hospital and to other facilities.
• Set up and administer oxygen using various devices.
• Maintain accurate records of therapy provided and patient responses.
• Educate patients and families for self-care and care transitions.
• Train employees and students in procedures and oversee care in the absence of a supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• Current Rhode Island License
• CRT or RRT certification
• Current BLS certification

• COVID-19 Vaccine: Proof of vaccination series or bivalent booster required.

• 2 Step PPD or IGRA: Completed within the last year.
• Varicella: Proof of immunization or positive titer.
• Tdap: Proof of immunization within the last 10 years.
• Professional References: Minimum of 1 supervisory reference required.
• Background Check: Federal, County, National, and Statewide checks required.
• CNE Orientation Packet: All forms must be signed and uploaded prior to start.
• Confidentiality Agreement: Must be signed before start.
• Employment Verification: Last 5 years of employment history required.
• Annual Policies: Compliance with CNE Covid and Flu Policy required.
• Badge Photo: Neutral colored background, forward-facing photo required.
• Occupational Health Clearance: Required upon acceptance of offer.
• License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification required.
