Department Information

• Number of Beds: 18
• Nurse-Patient Ratios: 4-5 patients per nurse during the day, 5-6 at night
• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, CHF, ACS, CAD, post-heart cath patients, arrhythmias

Required Certifications

• Mandatory:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Preferred: Phlebotomy experience

Experience Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of recent experience in Cath Lab post-recovery (femoral/radial) and stroke care
• Drip Experience: Must have experience with titratable drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amio, Dopamine, Heparin)

Additional Information

• Telemetry Monitoring: Yes, with a monitor tech responsible for central telemetry; RNs sign off on strips
• Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Charge Nurse has a patient assignment; NSO does not
• Nurse Aides: Yes, with a ratio dependent on acuity (2 CNAs based on acuity)
• Equipment: BiPAP, High Flow
• Department Specific Orientation: Yes, 2 shifts of 12 hours

Licensing

• State License Required: Illinois RN License
