Job Description

• Position in the SRO Float Pool, floating to various pediatric units including:

  • PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
  • NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
  • Pediatric Med-Surg
  • Pediatric ED Boarders
  • Postpartum/Mother-Baby
• Must have experience in PICU and NICU and be comfortable with pediatric patients.
• Previous float pool experience in NICU/PICU is considered.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - preferred
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification - required but can be submitted pending (cost of $185)

Additional Requirements

• Must adhere to UVA's float policy.
• Epic experience is required.
• Can submit with VA license pending.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial physical, updated annually.
• Vaccinations:

  • Tdap (must be received after age 11)
  • Flu vaccine (deadline 10/31/24)
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
  • Hepatitis B (Positive surface antibody titer required)
  • Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
• Drug Testing: 10 panel drug screen required, including marijuana and fentanyl.
• Background Check: 7-year criminal check required.

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency Exam

• Clinical references (2 required)

Notes

• Must complete various facility-specific documents prior to start.
• Fit testing may be required for patient-facing clinical roles.
• Initial and ongoing training may be required based on unit specifications.
