Unit Description

• Unit Type: Surgical Care Unit
• Patient Types:

  • Surgical Patients: Orthopedics, General, GYN, Urology, Spinal
  • Medical Patients: Pneumonia (PNA), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Weakness, Pancreatitis, Diverticulitis, Wound Infections
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
• Additional Responsibilities: May be required to float and work charge; charge experience preferred.

Scheduling

• Self-Scheduling: Employees can self-schedule, with balanced scheduling that may be adjusted as needed.

Required Certifications

• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• BLS: Basic Life Support
• PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• TNCC: Trauma Nursing Core Course
• CPI: Crisis Prevention Institute (for Behavioral Health & ER)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Competency Exam

Health Requirements

• Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, stating candidate is free from communicable diseases.
• Fit Testing: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
• Negative TB Test: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year of start; updated annually.
• Vaccinations:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Flu Vaccination: Required for new starts as of 9/1/2024.

Background and Reference Checks

• Background Check: 7-year check required within 1 year of start.
• References: 2 clinical references required.
