Job Description

• Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
• On Call: No
• Weekend Work: Yes (3 weekends per 4-week schedule; may work 1-3 days)
• Floating: Yes (possible Pediatric assignments)

Required Certifications

• State License
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) by AHA
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - pending acceptance
• NIH Stroke Certification

Required Experience

• Level I trauma experience (REQUIRED)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience (PREFERRED)
• Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• EPIC charting experience

Preferred Experience

• First-time travelers accepted
• Experience in continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
• Triage experience

Additional Information

• The unit is a Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department.
• Current nurse-to-patient ratios are high (1:5-6), potentially increasing to 8 during peak times.
• Travelers must acknowledge the high ratios and agree to work the required weekends.

Documentation and Requirements

• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam (within 12 months)
  • TB test or chest x-ray (within 1 year)
  • Vaccination records (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, Flu)
  • Drug screening (10 panel)
• Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of assignment start date.
• References: 2 references from previous employers required.
• Resume: Current resume including work history required.
• Education Verification: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Important Notes

• RTO (Request Time Off) must be submitted at the time of application; no additional RTO will be approved later.
• Modules and training may be required prior to starting, and candidates will not be compensated for time spent on these modules.
