Job Overview: Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Facility: MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital
Hospital System: MedStar Health - OLD
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Position: Nursing Informaticist
Experience Required: 2 years
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (5 days, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Start Dates: April 7, April 21
On Call: No
Float: No
Weekend Coverage: Required for nursing informatics go-live support when necessary

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
NI-BC (Nursing Informatics Certification) - Preferred
Additional Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for RN/LPNs in ED or Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required for Labor & Delivery candidates
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for MS/Tele and ICU

Experience Preferred

Experience in Women's and Children's, OR, and ED Nursing workflow and Cerner.
Recent graduates of a Master's level Nursing Informatics program are preferred.

Health Requirements

Flu Vaccine: Required for all employees.
Physical Exam: Annual physical stating the candidate is able to perform work without accommodations and is free from communicable disease.
TB Testing: IGRA (T-spot, Quantiferon Gold) or PPD Skin Test required annually.
Vaccinations:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years recommended for positions with exposure to children and infants.
- Hepatitis B Titer, Series (3), or Signed Declination.
- Varicella Vaccines or Positive Titer.

Background and History Requirements

Criminal Background Check: Required within 90 days of start.
References: Two positive supervisory references, including one from the most recent assignment, must support at least two years of experience in the previous three years.
Work History Verification: Minimum of two years of the past seven years of employment, preferably the two most recent years.

Additional Information

Scrub Color: Black
Driver's License: Required if driving on behalf of MedStar Health is an essential function of the job.
Drug Screen: Required within 90 days of start, excluding marijuana.
