Job Description

The position is for a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Educator with a focus on Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). The role involves providing education and mentorship to surgical technologists, particularly in the context of open heart cases.

Responsibilities

• Educate and mentor surgical technologists during procedures.
• Assist with setup prior to cases and identify any missing items.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback to team members.
• Develop and update preference cards and protocols to enhance productivity and competence.
• Attend weekly meetings with surgeons and management.

Requirements

• Certifications:

  • NBSTSA CST
  • AHA BLS
• Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of CVOR/CST experience required.
  • Proven leadership experience in educating and developing a team.
• Charting Experience: EPIC preferred.
• Skillset:

  • Experience in scrubbing a variety of open heart cases (valves, bypasses, etc.).
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments.

Shift Details

• Shift: 8-hour days
• Start Times: 5:15 AM / 5:30 AM
• Call: None
• Weekends/Holidays: As needed

Additional Information

• Orientation includes 1 day of HR and opportunities to observe/participate in cases.
• Scrub colors will be provided.
• No new travelers; at least one completed contract is required. Consideration for candidates with solid CVOR leadership/precept experience may be given if no prior travel experience.

Travelers coming from a staff position at a facility within a 50-mile radius of ThedaCare Corporate Center in Neenah, WI, are not eligible for this position. GSA hours are not guaranteed during the week of orientation.
