Job Description

• Unit: Critical Care Float Pool
• Shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Block scheduling is not guaranteed)
• Floating Required: Yes (this is a float position)
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Responsibilities

• Float to any unit within the hospital, except for Psych and ED (unless managing holds).
• May float to Medical-Surgical (MS) and take assignments with 6-7 patients.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH required.
• Licensure: Active NY RN license required at the time of submission.
• Verification: NURSYS report for license verification with all active RN licenses.
• RTO: Must be included at the time of submission.

Patient Care

• Common Patient Diagnoses:

  • Neurological/Medical: Strokes, Sepsis, Altered Mental Status (AMS), Neuro Intervention (TCAR)
  • Respiratory Failure, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Post-Stemi CTICU, Cardiogenic Shock, AAA Surgery/Trauma, Major post-operative surgery.

Equipment

• Specialty Equipment:

  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Ventriculostomy
  • Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring
  • Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)

Unit Capacity

• Number of Beds in the Unit: 42 beds
