Unit Information

Unit Name: CVICU
Number of Beds: 16
Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:1 for certain device patients
Unit Staffing Description:
- Free floating charge nurse to assist staff
- Unit secretary and Administrative Care Tech available Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
- Student Nurse Externs on variable shifts to assist nurses with tech duties
Type of Equipment:
- Phillips bedside telemetry monitors
- Hill-Rom beds
- Alaris IV pumps
Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

2 weekends per month
1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)
2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)

Floating Policy

C/L employees float as needed, typically to other ICUs but can include other floors.

Patient Experience Requirements

None specific

Hiring Profile

Requested Skill Set

Must Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience
Advanced Skills Needed:
- Skills with PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required
- Preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT

Procedures Performed on Unit

Care for immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including ECMO, Centrimags, and HM3 LVADS
Perform central line insertion, Swan insertion, intubations, etc.

Certifications Required

ACLS
BLS

Dress Code

Required uniform: Scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue; scrub jackets/vests only
