Unit Specifics

• Department: Emergency Department (ER)
• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds.
• Staffing: Techs available for cardiac monitoring and triage; unit clerks on days and nights.
• Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors.
• Documentation System: Cerner.
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend; flexible scheduling based on department needs.
• Floating Policy: No floating outside of the ED, but must be open to floating within the ED.

Required Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS (all required before starting).
• ENPC within 90 days of hire.

Hiring Profile

• Experience Required:

  • 2 years as a nurse, with at least 1 year in an ER setting.
  • Experience in a Level II trauma center and high-volume ED (>100,000 visits).
  • Previous HCA experience preferred.
• Skills:

  • Teamwork mentality and ability to provide real-time feedback.
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of the ED.

Dress Code

• Required uniform: Navy scrubs.
