Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds:

  • CCU: 10 beds
  • IMC: 30 beds
  • MS Level 7: 27 beds
  • MS Level 8: 48 beds
  • Skilled Care: 33 beds
  • ED: 15 beds

Nurse-Patient Ratios

• CCU: 1:2-3
• IMC: 1:4-6
• MS Level 7: 1:5-6
• MS Level 8: 1:5-8
• Skilled Care: 1:8-10
• ED: TBD (to be determined after unit discovery)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) if working in CCU or ED

Patient Population

• Common Diagnoses: NSTEMI, Pneumonia, Sepsis, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Diverticulitis, and more.

Experience and Skills

• Must Have:

  • 5 years of nursing experience
  • Preferably 1 year of ICU or ED experience
  • Comfortable floating to lower acuity units
  • Ability to manage patient ratios from 1:2 to 1:10

Responsibilities

• Titration of Drips: Required if working in ED or CCU; expected to manage all critical drips (e.g., Heparin).
• Charge Nurse: Yes, may take an assignment as needed.
• Patient Care Techs: Ratios of 1:7-15; duties include ADLs, vitals, bathing, toileting, feeding, repositioning, answering call lights, and blood sugar checks.
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Nurses are expected to troubleshoot equipment (e.g., vents, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP).
• Telemetry: Monitor tech available 24/7; nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips.

Scheduling

• Shifts: Self-scheduling available; typically 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirements: May be asked to participate in holiday rotation.
• Call/Standby Requirement: No.

Orientation

• Duration: 1 day of orientation and 1 day with a preceptor; orientation provided for only 1 unit before independent work.

• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Additional Information

• Assignments communicated via text message within 2 hours prior to shift start.
• Travelers expected to clock in on assigned unit and complete daily time sheets.
