Unit Description

• Unit Name: Labor & Delivery/Post Partum Unit
• Bed Count: 25-bed Labor & Delivery Unit

  • 5 Labor & Delivery Rooms
  • 12 Post-Partum Rooms
  • 2 Operating Rooms
  • 2 Recovery Rooms
  • 2 ANU Rooms with 4 beds
• Average Daily Census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and labor patients

Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years
• Skill Sets Required:

  • Labor & Delivery
  • Postpartum
  • Circulate
  • Newborn Care
• Clinician to Patient Ratio:

  • L&D: 1:2-3 for evaluations, 1:1 for active labor
  • Post-Partum: 1:3-4
• Certifications Required:

  • Active Massachusetts RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - every 2 years
  • ACLS (preferred)

Shift Information

• Shifts:

  • Rotating shifts with 1 night of call (7a-7p, 11a-11p & 7p-7a)
  • Evening and night positions are straight shifts
• Floating Required: No

Additional Information

• EMR (Charting System): EPIC
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Completed primary series required; no exemptions or waivers considered.
• Other Vaccinations:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B (strongly preferred)
  • Influenza (required during flu season)
  • TB screening required
• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check
  • Education verification
  • National sex offender check
  • Exclusion checks for OIG, GSA, and MassHealth & NH Medicaid

Documentation Required

• Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city & state
• References: 2 recent references, including at least 1 supervisor or above
• Skills Checklist: Required for submission
• Health Statement: Signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
