Job Description

• Work in a 19-bed Neurosurgical ICU.
• Care for patients with acute stroke, SAH, seizures, and post-surgical needs.
• Responsibilities include:

  • Invasive intracranial pressure monitoring
  • Frequent neurological assessments
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Routine CT, MRI, and Angio
• Patient assignments: 2-3 patients per nurse.
• May require floating to other ICUs/Step-down units.
• Rotating day/night shifts.

Required Credentials

• BLS: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (American Heart Association only)
• License Verification: Primary source verification of RN license and/or certification, updated every 2 years.
• MMR: Positive MMR titers from within the last 15 years.
• Fit Test: Completed within 1 year prior to start.
• Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccination series or signed declination.
• Varicella: Positive titers from within the last 15 years.
• Tdap: Proof of vaccination within the past 10 years.
• NIHSS: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification.
• Physical Exam: Completed within one year of initial start date.
• Influenza Vaccine: Proof of vaccination or approved exemption.
• 2-Step PPD or IGRA: Negative results within the last 6 months.

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check results within 6 months of start.
  • OIG search and SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening.
• Education Verification: Highest level of education verified.
• Employment Verification: Verification of employment within the last 5 years.
• Competency Exams: Must score at least 80% on relevant department exams.
• Core Competencies: Completion of HIPAA, Joint Commission-NPSG, OSHA topics.
• UHS Submission Packet: Resume, job application, and professional references required.
• Driver's License/State ID: Non-expired photo ID required.
• UHS Badge Photo: Headshot required.
