Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist will demonstrate mastery of clinical skills, focusing on improving assessment skills and respiratory therapies according to established protocols. Essential duties include:

• Mechanical ventilation
• Medicated aerosol delivery
• Airway clearance therapy
• Patient monitoring
• Oxygen and humidity therapy
• Special procedures (CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, transport, etc.)

Education/Expertise

• Associates Degree or Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy

Required Credentials

1. Influenza Vaccine: Proof required.
2. Driver's License/State ID: Non-expired photo ID.
3. 2-Step TB Test: Negative reads within the last 6 months.
4. Resume: Must include education and work history, along with 2 professional references from the last 2 years.
5. UHS Badge Photo: Shoulders up, plain background, headshot in JPEG format.
6. Criminal Background Check: Must be completed within 6 months prior to start.
7. OIG Search: To be completed within 6 months prior to start.
8. Drug Screen: Must include a 10-panel drug test completed within 60 days of the start date.
9. BLS Certification: American Heart Association only.
10. License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification required.
11. COVID-19 Vaccine: Proof of vaccination or approved exemption.
12. MMR: Positive titers required from within the last 15 years.
13. Fit Test: Completed within 1 year of start.
14. Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccination or signed declination.
15. Varicella: Positive titers required from within the last 15 years.
16. Tdap: Proof of vaccination within the past 10 years.
17. UHS I-9 Attestation: Completed I-9 or attestation required.
18. Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified.
19. Employment Verification: Verification of employment within the last 5 years.
20. Physical/Health Statement: Pre-employment exam statement required.

Additional Information

• Safety and Compliance Training: Must complete training modules prior to clearance.
• Competency Exams: Must score at least 80% on relevant department exams.
• Core Competencies: Must complete training on HIPAA, OSHA, and Joint Commission topics.
