Position Details

Unit Description

• Patient Care:

  • Trach care
  • Bariatrics
  • Nocturnal vents
  • Stroke care
• Patient Ratios:

  • 1:5 for Step Down/PCU
  • 1:6 if floated to acute care
• Patient Types:

  • MSD cares for PD patients
  • CSD cares for stroke patients
  • SSD cares for surgical patients
• Float Requirements: Must be willing to float to ED Hold and other units within specialty.

Experience and Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 2 years working on a Step Down/PCU unit
• License: NJ or compact
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS (AHA only)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 holiday per contract
• RTO (Request Time Off): No more than 3 days

Orientation and First Day Instructions

• Orientation:

  • Must be available for the full 7 days of the first week.
  • Virtual orientation on the first day via TEAMS.
  • Attendance at scheduled orientation classes is mandatory (Tuesday-Thursday).
  • POCT class scheduled for the 2nd or 3rd week of the assignment.
• ID Badge:

  • Important to obtain prior to the Orientation Shift for clocking in and out.
