Description

As an integral member of the Transport Team, the Transport RT functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by Washington State, the AARC Scope and Standards for Respiratory Care Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's Hospital policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes the provision of basic patient care as well as advanced life support measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient, demonstration of proficiency in neonatal and pediatric critical care respiratory practices and knowledge of the adaptations necessary for patient management in the ambulance or aircraft and during transit. The Transport RT must also be familiar with ambulance and aircraft operating procedures and safety practices. Must be available for on-call and as scheduled.
Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Improvement and Innovation (CII), Seattle Children's Values, etc.
The Transport RT serves as a team member along with Registered Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians within the mobile transport team. Must be available for call.

This position may be based at Main Campus or at one of the off campus bases. Off campus bases may be at Seattle Children's locations, or at another site that is decided based on volume and efficiency.  
*Required Education and Experience*
Graduate of accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
Minimum of two (2) years current pediatric intensive care (PICU), cardiac intensive care (CICU), or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience.

*Required Credentials*
Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
Current Washington State RCP License.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be obtained within three (3) months of start date.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP). Those without NRP will be required to obtain NRP during the orientation, but no later than six (6) months from the start date within the position.
As per the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for RT's performing moderately complex point of care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement to be on record with Human Resources upon hire.
For personnel trained outside of the U.S., records of diploma/transcript must provide documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency.
A current passport or WA Enhanced ID is a prerequisite to hiring.
Those without a passport will be required to obtain a passport no later than three months from the start date within the position.
Must have passport available during all shifts.
Must carry passport on all transports.

Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Health Related Field.
Neonatal-Pediatric Specialty certification (NPS) from the AARC.
Neonatal-Pediatric Transport (C-NPT).
Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or other health related field.

$41.39 - $66.98 per hour*Salary Information*
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
