Description
1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
25-bed critical access hospital: We provide general medical care, skilled nursing care, emergency department, swing bed, and outpatient care. Procedures vary based on patients. Our patients can range in age from infant to geriatric. This nurse would work will all patient types and skill mixes.
(We do not do schedule OB/deliveries)
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
EMR: Epic/One Chart, Pyxis for med administration, Alaris IV pumps, Phillips telemetry/cardiac monitoring
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
RN skills – Would prefer at least 3 years of experience but not required
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
BLS, ACLS, TNCC or CALS
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Rotating days/nights. The employee would not work alone.Would request at least every 3rd weekend coverage. No call requirements.
6. Floating to over units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
All of our nurses work between hospital, ED, and outpatient nursing. They also cover PACU when needed. All these departments are located within the same unit.
7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
25-bed CAH, our average census is around 6 patients
8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
1:3-4
9. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
We normally pair the new RN with another RN on the unit. We can provide whatever orientation is routine to a traveling nurse. EMR/Epic training can be completed on-site by our local trainer. The traveling nurse would never be scheduled to work alone. Our minimum staffing is 2 RN’s at night, during the day/evening staffing is generally 3-4 RN’s.The RN’s also have nursing assistant support from 0.
