CORE JOB SUMMARY
The University of Miami is currently seeking a Medical Technologist to work at the UM Hospital in Miami. The incumbent will provide bone marrow / stem cell processing, cell counts, inventory control, record keeping, and issuing of cellular therapy products for infusion. The position will perform routine and non-routine testing, blood component preparation, quality control, inventory control, equipment QC, manual and computer documentation as part of daily job function. He/She will work closely with the laboratory supervisor to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local licensure regulations.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Process cellular therapy products for the intent of infusion to patients.
2. Process blood samples and perform basic tests and laboratory procedures. Calculate final cellular characteristics of cellular therapy products.
3. Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results.
4. Utilize sterile technique for the collection, processing, storing, and distributing of cellular therapy products.
5. Maintain detailed documentation of procedural steps performed to ensure conformity to specification.
6. Deliver test results to laboratory supervisor / laboratory director, physicians, or research personnel.
7. Transport cellular therapy products between clinical site and CTL.
8. Receive cellular therapy products from external donor sites.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:
Associate in Science degree
Certification and Licensing:
Maintain State of Florida Medical Technologist license
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
