Location: Bascom Palmer Eye Institute - Miami
The Department of Anesthesiology, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami at the University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
The CRNA:
Works in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures.
Provides cares for a patient before, during and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, administering and maintaining the anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management.
Oversees the patient recovery from anesthesia and caring for the patient's immediate post-operative needs.
Responsible for pre-operative assessment of the surgical patients and administers anesthesia under the Direction of an Anesthesiologist
Preforms pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records.
Reviews medical history, evaluating patients and determining proper methods of anesthesia.
Performs or evaluate diagnostic tests, such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKG’s).
Measures and monitors the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered.
Monitors patient vital signs to ensure safety, to include skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation or urine output. Informs physician of patient’s condition during anesthesia.
Manages patients’ airway or pulmonary status using techniques, such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
Oversees patient recovery from anesthesia and cares for patient’s immediate post-operative needs.
Prepares prescribed solutions and administers local, intravenous, spinal or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.
Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering fluids or drugs, and using basic or advanced life support techniques.
Develops anesthesia care plans.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master’s Degree and a graduate from an accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia Program (CRNA)
Valid Florida CRNA License, BLS/ACLS/PALS required
Minimum 2 years of experience.
