Description

Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technologist

Job Summary:

A Cardiac Catheterization Lab Technologist assists in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, such as angioplasties, stent placements, and coronary artery interventions. They work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with heart-related conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and other related diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Operate and maintain cardiovascular diagnostic equipment, including fluoroscopic systems, angiographic equipment, and other monitoring devices.
  • Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs, hemodynamic data, and other critical parameters during procedures.
  • Assist with the insertion and removal of catheters, guiding catheters to the appropriate sites under the supervision of physicians.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents, medications, and other materials as required during procedures.
  • Perform quality control and ensure proper maintenance and calibration of cardiac cath lab equipment.
  • Maintain and sterilize instruments and equipment to ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards.
  • Assist with the preparation, documentation, and interpretation of imaging and test results.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient care.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding the purpose and expectations of cardiac catheterization procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training, certification, and compliance programs to stay current with advancements in cardiac catheterization technology.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification:
    • Certified Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in cardiac catheterization or interventional cardiology
