Description
A Coronary Care Unit (CCU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides advanced nursing care to patients experiencing acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other critical cardiac issues. They play a crucial role in monitoring and managing critically ill patients, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide high-level care aimed at stabilizing and improving cardiac health outcomes.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to patients experiencing acute or chronic cardiac conditions such as heart attacks, arrhythmias, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery. \n
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to protocols and patient safety. \n
- Monitor vital signs, ECGs, and other cardiac monitoring systems to detect signs of deterioration or cardiac events. \n
- Interpret and respond to cardiac rhythms, arrhythmias, and other abnormalities, providing timely interventions as needed. \n
- Collaborate with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans. \n
- Educate patients and their families about their cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications for better heart health. \n
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and outcomes. \n
- Provide critical care and intervention during medical emergencies, ensuring rapid response and appropriate treatment. \n
- Supervise and provide guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in delivering patient care. \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development to maintain current cardiac care knowledge. \n
- Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in the care of cardiac patients. \n

- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. \n
- Licensure:\n

- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. \n
\n - Certification:\n
- \n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. \n
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. \n
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Cardiac Vascular Nurse (CVN) preferred. \n
\n - Experience: Previous experience in a Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit, or telemetry \n
