Description
A Dialysis Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to patients with acute or chronic kidney disease who require hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatment. The RN works closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage and monitor patients undergoing dialysis, ensuring optimal care and outcomes in an inpatient setting.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis in an inpatient setting. \n
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, laboratory results, and dialysis-related parameters, ensuring optimal fluid and electrolyte balance. \n
- Administer dialysis treatments, ensuring equipment is properly set up and functioning, and addressing any complications that arise during dialysis. \n
- Educate patients on dialysis treatments, including the procedure, expected outcomes, and self-care post-treatment. \n
- Collaborate with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans. \n
- Monitor for and respond to complications related to dialysis, such as hypotension, cramping, infections, or electrolyte imbalances. \n
- Administer medications as prescribed, including anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and other dialysis-related medications. \n
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, dialysis treatments, and interventions. \n
- Advocate for patients’ needs, ensuring timely access to dialysis treatments and other related care. \n
- Participate in patient education and training programs related to kidney disease, dialysis, and renal health. \n
- Provide emotional support to patients and families dealing with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). \n
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the overall care of patients with renal conditions. \n

- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. \n
- Licensure:\n
- \n
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. \n
\n - Certification:\n
- \n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. \n
- Dialysis certification (e.g., Certified Nephrology Nurse - CNN) preferred. \n
\n - Experience: Previous experience in dialysis, nephrology, or critical care nursing \n
