Description

Job Title: Vascular Ultrasound Technologist Job Summary:

A Vascular Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using specialized ultrasound equipment to evaluate blood flow and detect vascular conditions. This role focuses on assessing the arteries and veins throughout the body to diagnose and manage conditions such as peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, carotid artery disease, and other vascular disorders. The Vascular Ultrasound Technologist collaborates with physicians to ensure accurate imaging and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform vascular ultrasound examinations, including carotid artery, arterial and venous doppler, abdominal aorta, and peripheral vascular studies as ordered by the physician.
  • Operate specialized ultrasound equipment to assess blood flow, identifying abnormalities such as blockages, narrowing, or vessel abnormalities.
  • Prepare patients for vascular ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, positioning them appropriately, and ensuring their comfort.
  • Recognize and document normal and abnormal vascular findings, providing accurate measurements and imaging results.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including detailed reports of findings and imaging data for physician review.
  • Collaborate with vascular surgeons, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to contribute to diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs during procedures and ensure patient safety throughout the examination.
  • Stay current with advancements in vascular ultrasound technology and imaging techniques through continuing education.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Vascular Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification:
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is required.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience: Prior experience in vascular ultrasound
