Description
An Ultrasound Technologist (General), also known as a Sonographer, performs diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images of internal organs, soft tissues, and blood flow. These images assist physicians in diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. The Ultrasound Technologist ensures patient safety, comfort, and the proper operation of imaging equipment while maintaining a high standard of care and professionalism.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n- \n
- Perform general ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and small parts imaging, as ordered by the physician. \n
- Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and positioning them correctly for optimal imaging. \n
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture diagnostic-quality images, adjusting settings as necessary based on the patient’s condition and the area of study. \n
- Analyze images for quality and accuracy, documenting findings and preparing preliminary technical reports for physician review. \n
- Recognize and identify normal and abnormal findings, ensuring proper documentation of relevant anatomy and pathology. \n
- Maintain and sanitize ultrasound equipment and transducers following infection control protocols. \n
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive diagnostic information. \n
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to established procedures, including monitoring for adverse reactions and maintaining a safe environment. \n
- Maintain accurate patient records and comply with all legal, ethical, and organizational standards. \n
- Stay updated on advancements in ultrasound technology and imaging techniques through continuing education. \n

- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field. \n
- Certification:\n
- \n
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent. \n
- Specialties in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN), or Vascular Technology (RVT) are highly preferred. \n
\n - Experience: Prior experience as an Ultrasound Technologist is preferred; new graduates from accredited programs may be considered \n
