Position Title: Emergency Room (ER) Nurse
\nJob Summary: The ER Nurse is a critical member of the healthcare team responsible for providing high-quality, urgent medical care to patients in the emergency department (ED). They assess, monitor, and treat patients with acute medical conditions and injuries, ensuring prompt and effective care in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. The ER Nurse works closely with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare staff to deliver patient-centered care while maintaining safety, efficiency, and compassion.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\n\nPatient Assessment:

- Triage patients based on the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly. \n
- Perform thorough physical assessments and obtain detailed medical histories from patients. \n
- Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and patient status, identifying changes and responding appropriately. \n
Emergency Care and Treatment:
\n- \n
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and interventions as directed by the physician. \n
- Provide wound care, assist with procedures, and manage trauma or critical care patients. \n
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, or other procedures as required. \n
- Ensure proper documentation of all treatments, medications, and patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR). \n
Collaboration and Communication:

- Work in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. \n
- Effectively communicate with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes. \n
- Assist with educating patients on follow-up care, preventive measures, and any necessary lifestyle adjustments. \n
Crisis Management:

- Respond to medical emergencies quickly and effectively, providing advanced life support (ALS) when needed. \n
- Take swift action in the event of cardiac arrest, trauma, or other urgent health conditions. \n
- Manage life-threatening situations with a calm demeanor, ensuring the safety and stability of patients. \n
Patient Advocacy and Support:

- Advocate for patients by ensuring they receive timely and appropriate care. \n
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during stressful situations. \n
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. \n
Compliance and Safety:

- Adhere to all hospital and department policies, protocols, and standards of care. \n
- Ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized and maintained. \n
- Follow infection control guidelines to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections. \n
Education and Professional Development:

- Stay updated with the latest trends, guidelines, and best practices in emergency nursing care. \n
- Participate in continuing education programs, workshops, and other training to maintain certifications and expand clinical knowledge. \n
- Mentor and guide new nurses and students within the department. \n
Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required. \n

- Current state RN license in good standing. \n
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required. \n
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred. \n

- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations. \n
- Proficient in using medical equipment, including monitors, defibrillators, and IV pumps. \n
