The ER at St Mary’s was one of my favorite places to work. Great docs and awesome coworkers
Not what I expected
Same old same old. Doctors are cool, staff is mostly cool, but it’s not any different than most hospitals. Having a catch team is great, and a blood transfusion team…but really you’ll just lose skills. PCA’s (what they call CNA’s)…still not sure what they do…sit in the hall all night watching four 1:1’s ? The RN will be wiping all the buttes. This is not an indictment against the PCA’s…their job duties seemed ill defined, but they are not doing what I’ve seen most CNA’s doing. Management was actually ok, on the few occasions I met them. 4 hour orientation, so never could get access to blood sugar machine. Really was not what I was thinking it would be (as in, just like every other dumpster fire out there). Staff does not appear happy, they took the covid shortages and have been screwing over staff ever since. A lot of rich entitled people show up expecting to have their buttes kissed. This is just my one contract experience. Would not go back unless they pay better. Also, no consideration for the fact you’re a traveller (where can I park?) seemed offended and surprised I expected a 30 minute lunch break. (They don’t seem to take any breaks).
