Been there over 5 years and it gets worse every year. Unsafe ratios in ICU and new grads galore. They float seasoned staff to be charge in units with no charge experience, so new grads don’t have to float. Most new grads and nurses with less than 2 years experience are just awful to follow. Training is 8-10 weeks for new grads in ICU. Night shift for ICU patients is like Russian roulette due to saturation with new grads from gen Z who are idiots. Management cares more about the metrics and prevention of events on the unit than staffing safely. Events happen more with 3-4 assignments of 1:3 in ICU. Unit is always perfectly staff when Joint Commission and regulatory authorities come by. They hire foreign new grads to pay them garbage and cut their long time contract staff.
