PACU - Post Anesthesia Care

Staff very cliquey but to be expected.  Assignments got made based on who was working together or not, a lot of times assignments didn’t make sense or were not based of patient needs.  2:1 ratio most of the times unless you have a “stepdown” assignment.  Quite a bit of floating to their “sister” unit which is a glorified stepdown trying to function as an ICU.  Scheduling requirements sucked.

Perks were working with amazing providers in addition to working with a lot of great residents and fellows.  Good place to learn, lot of exposure to various types of patients.

Post Partum

Certain specialties and staff members have very strong personalities and unwelcoming. Very rare to have your room set up from the previous night. Schedule was not what was posted or discussed on interview. You work 2X12s and 2x8s and they do not tell you it is rotating until after you start. along with the rotating schedule, your shift is sun-sun. There is no weekend/night/day/mid shift. You work what they give you.
