Med Surg / Telemetry

Brand new ER/building (opened 10/2023) and while I was there the tube station wasn’t even set up yet, pharmacy was still on the 6th floor in the old building (and remember, no working tube station…). They had ZERO idea on how to run the unit, every day groups of rooms/assignments would change; the doctors didn’t even know what beds were which. Supplies? Everywhere and no where at the same time. There are A LOT of middle eastern individuals in this area who only speak alternate languages, but there is no on-staff Farsi or other in-person language interpreter services other than the language line. Oh…and don’t even get me started on management. This is the only facility I’ve been to which has an ED director, manager, and assistant manager. The director? Never saw them even once. The manager? Literal trash. Micromanager to the max when she’d stay occasionally past 7pm, always had a negative attitude/resting b***h face, and when providing updates about the facility it was always the, “well, somehow this is basically the RNs fault so we’re making these changes so you have to do more work for no more pay…and this is just how it is because this is coming down from the top…” kinda attitude - felt so bad for the staff. I asked about my schedule one time to the assistant manager, and the response I received was, “if you have questions regarding your schedule I suggest you contact your agency to be reassigned…” - and why would I lie to you (my fellow Vivian people) about a comment such as this? I just asked; the message I sent was not rude or off-putting whatsoever (side note: they even reported this to my agency and someone called me from my agency asking about it…so I told/read it to them, and they even stated it was just me asking is all, no rude context…and let’s not forget the fact that the management SENT THIS COMMENT TO MY AGENCY). Little did they know I’d read all the facility replies back to my agency who sided with me….and this wasn’t even a pick sides conversation in the beginning. Anyhow, all the nurses are brand new there (~1-1.5 years in) and training all the other new grads who are replacing the travelers. With that being said, out of all my home facilities, travel background (which includes working for multiple county hospitals and clients with the lowest income), this facility was by far my least favorite - period, and for a host of reasons. I’ve never even written a review for another facility until Vivian asked me to for this one…let that be a lesson. I hope this facility gets better because on the outside it’s a beautiful new building, but with the management protected by the union, I don’t think it’s going to anytime soon.
