The staff are great and teamwork is apparent in all they do. Pay rate was pretty good. Supplies are all located in OmniCells and everything has to be pulled under patient name which can be time consuming and frustrating especially when you need something quickly and someone else is in the OmniCell or you forgot the patient’s name at the moment. For instance, hemostatic agents, sutures, etc.

The problem with the hospital is they don’t have a PCU/Step Down unit. You are caring for patients with PCU needs on Med-Surg Ratios and Expectations and the pay does not reflect PCU pay but lower end Med-Surg pay. CNA help can be very limited many of days. Most of the charge nurses are very helpful. The Atrium cafe is probably one of the best features of the hospitals. Majority of the providers are very good to get a long with and address patient concerns but 3 in particular tend to be very rude at times.

Med Surg / Telemetry

Upper management did not give much care or support to the travelers and the staff did not care for travelers either.

Charge nurses are amazing. Views are amazing. Get to take breaks! 528 drive there is wild often.  Health literacy among patients is terrible. Meditech. Supplies surprisingly scarce-working scanners, computers, VS machines. 1/2 Providers take too long to answer texts via tiger text and want nurses to put in their orders and get grumpy.  Micromanagement is exhausting. Two tier system of nurses-young ones in management and older ones on the floor. Most nurses have not worked in other facilities. Huddles are almost 20 min long. It’s more like PCU vs ms tele. No Kronos to clock in. Three ms units. You have to go up the elevator to find a computer (that turns on) and then clock in. 1:6 ratios. Techs are great. Upper Management appears to listen to the travelers and then is punitive after open door policy.
