Worked as a PICU RN new grad from 8/21-10/22. Pay was immensely low starting out at $27.50, no critical care pay, $3 shift diff for nights. Poor management, director was uninvolved in unit safety and failed to mention mandatory weekly overtime or being mandated for 16 hour shifts, facing written warnings if refused when I was interviewed. 

I was pulled out of new grad orientation in the PICU at 6 weeks. This is a very homogenous staff, with very few non white women. Staffing practices were consistently unsafe at this hospital. There was very little new grad nurse support from charge nurses, clinical managers, nor the unit director, aside from
placating emails and temporary incentive shifts offered at peak peds Covid waves. There is no nurse residency program, which is very beneficial to new nurses. Everyone should avoid this institution aside from travel contracts to their CICU (maybe $).
