North Texas State Hospital — part of the HHS Health and Specialty Care System — consists of three campuses in Wichita Falls and Vernon. These campuses provide inpatient, psychiatric services to adults, children and adolescents. The hospital also provides psychiatric services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Vernon campus has 284 adult beds and 78 adolescent beds. It is a maximum-security facility that services both adults with criminal (forensic) issues and adolescents with dually-diagnosed substance abuse and mental health problems most of whom are there as a condition of their probation, having had significant involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Pros

From an RN point of view, the staff are super nice, team oriented, open to ideas, and supportive. The location is in a small town, which I love!!! I would absolutely work here again

Cons

NTSH clearly has a lot of potential for growth, having so many buildings that can potentially be full of patients, but it hasn't reached it's full potential, patient head count wise. Point being, this place didn't have much overtime available for agency staff :[
