The specific pulmonary unit I worked on for 9 months had fantastic leadership. The management was competent, personable, flexible with scheduling and actually always willing to lend a hand. Especially the clinical supervisor, Jenn, every time she rounded on the patients she would always do things for them and not just call the nurse or aide to complete for the patients instead. She is by far one of the best managers I’ve ever worked for. Although it could get fairly stressful overall I enjoyed my time at mission hospital in Asheville.

Huge facility, but will never be completely staffed. Pharmacy technicians (my specialty) can expect for a real frustrating time. Technicians (especially ones on evening shift) just save the work for someone else and like to hang back and get by with minimal effort. Makes the work load on the actual workers overwhelming. A lot of “that’s such and such shifts responsibility”, instead of just doing whatever needs to be done.

Hospitals is a dumpster fire the people are wonderful

I’ve been a staff RN at Mission since 2/2020 and it’s been going down hill ever since HCA bought it. There is zero staff retention, unsafe staffing, no management support, and no help in sight. If you’re traveling you’ll definitely earn your keep if you choose to come here. Only positive is how supportive the nights RN’s are.
