This lab was the best travel experience I could have hoped for! The Director is SO AMAZING! Very kind and supportive. The small staff feels very close and like you are entering into a mini family. The work environment is great. As far as the workload and ability to use skills, since this is a much smaller community being served the workload is much lighter. They work load comes in a wave in the morning when nursing home and outside samples come in, then the rest of the day can be a slower flow of inpatient and occasional ER. It was the perfect location to stay in the work field but be able to decompress from stressful environments and really get back to the simplicity of why I like being in a lab. As a bonus the town the lab is in is BEAUTIFUL! On the bay, there is a dock and the water right outside the ER doors that makes for a peaceful start or end to the day when entering/exiting a shift.
