The hospital just turned level 1 trauma center but was so busy even when it was level 2, I did a call back 14hr on a Saturday and 10hrs on a Sunday. They do 48hr weekend calls. That’s s horrible. Plus I had to do a week late stay (4hrs extra) and a weekly on call during the night.

The director is horrible. Sits at the front desk and watches the camera. Calls into your room to rush you to bring the next patient. She has no clue what is going on and is just worried about turn over. The consents aren’t signed or or isn’t ready and she will still bug you. Very unsafe. Then she talks about people all day long at the front desk and then will smile to your face. She is conniving. The staff is nice for the most part.

Hospital is dirty. They try to squeeze every cent. CNA’s there are pretty lazy. You get tripled often. Don’t recommend.

South Texas Health System Mcallen is a hospital in McAllen, Texas, United States. It is the flagship hospital of the South Texas Health System. It is owned by Universal Health Services, a Pennsylvania-based hospital management company.

McAllen is a tertiary care regional provider. It offers advanced wound care, maternity care including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), neurosurgery, orthopedics, and oncology. It is the designated advanced Level II Trauma Center for Hidalgo County. Since 2011 it has been the base for emergency helicopter service throughout the Rio Grande Valley. In cooperation with the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, McAllen offers a three-year residency in Family Practice.
