Remote and friendly
This is a very remote, critical access hospital. The culture here is very good and accepting of travelers. Many travelers have signed on as per diem or permanent staff, and some have come back many times. It is a slow hospital, and at times, I saw no patients, and other times, you're completely full with some very critical patients. A lot of the time, You'll see the run of the mill patients but due to the remote nature of this facility, you get a majority of the critically I'll patients that need high levels of care that need to be transferred. In the fall and winter, the westher highly affects this and you'll have these patients untill you can get them out. You'll typically see 8-14 patients in a 24 hr period so it's definitely more of a vacation station. Staff here is pleasant and accepting. A good portion of them have been at the facility for a long time. They do use mid-levels as providers with MD oversight if needed. The draw of this facility is the area. I love being outdoors and camw for the snow as Mt Shasta is only an hour away. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would come back.
