Under the general direction of the Technical Director of the Vascular Center Lab, the vascular technologist will serve as a clinical expert for medical and nursing staff who are seeking diagnostic studies in the Vascular Center Lab. He/she will manage any difficulties they may encounter in the process of ordering vascular lab studies and work closely with Senior Technologist and Technical Director to resolve such difficulties. - This division is open 7 days/week from 5:30am-11:00pm The MRI Techs will work under general supervision, perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies using a magnetic resonance device that includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, performing computer processing and displaying images. Monitors appropriate inventory and par levels of necessary supplies and communicates with Manager / Supervisor. Assists receptionist and other Department staff in various duties as necessary (i.e. scheduling and transporting patients, taking stock inventory, filing, etc.). Develops knowledge of MR physics through on-the-job training, reading, etc., and keeps current on new developments in MR imaging. Identifies hazardous system malfunctions; secures area and removes patients and personnel from magnet bay during emergency situations. Performs other related duties as required. SKILLS &amp; COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Mental/visual ability to operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation and perform quality control procedures on equipment; ability to transfer patients to MR scan table and push table from prep room to exam room; must lift and transfer patients to stretchers, etc.
