Job Summary:The Registered Respiratory Therapist under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):-Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, &amp; diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.-Performing Intubation assistance as well as Ventilator set-up &amp; management.-Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient’s needs, including patient specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate.-Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient/caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement.-Provides and documents education to patients/caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner.-Other duties and/or projects as assigned.-Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.-Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 5 lbs. and stands a minimum of 1 hour a day.-Contacts: Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors.

Job Summary:The Surgical Tech I is responsible for cleaning and handling instruments following standard policies while maintaining updated records.Essential Job Functions:-Follows policy in standardization of set-ups and utilization of surgeon preference and assumes responsibility for the care and proper handling of instruments by neatly organizing all instrumentation before returning to decontamination room and returning all clean supplies to designated areas.-Maintains count of sponges, needles, instruments and administrates and labels medications all accordingly to established policy.-Handles specimens according to O.R. Policy and Procedures.-Controls contamination and provides for decontamination, disinfections, sterilization and sanitation of instruments and equipment.-Removes used equipment and properly disposes of contaminated needles and syringes at end of procedures.-Participates in team conference to plan care and evaluates effectiveness of patient care and assists circulator in revising plan of care.-Maintains ST skills proficiency checklist up to date by checking off equipment and cases, circulating or scrub when rotated through specialty areas.-Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 400 lbs. and stands a minimum of length of shift.-Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).-Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
